Baked Sweet Potato Chips

baked chips sweetpotato

I just read on the internet that of all the tubers that exist, the one with the lowest glycemic index is infact the sweet potato aka, the healthiest tuber. Though i never really liked sweet potato too much in the boiled form (as my ajji made it), i rediscovered it when I ate tandoori sweet potato in a restaurant (Serengheti in Total mall, bangalore).. Ordered it at the insistance of the shakarkhand lovers (my husband and my brother in law) and was pleasantly surprised at how they  managed to make it so yummy. Am yet to find the recipe for that, not that I haven't googled or experimented with my own masalas, alas, no good results yet :(. Anyway since I could not do that and since i've become health conscious after joining the gym, I decided to make my own sweet potato chips at home. It's one of the easiest and yummiest snacks i've had in a long time...

Baked Sweetpotato Chips

Recipe Type:  Snacks
Cuisine:          International
Prep Time:     10 minutes
Cook time:     15 minutes
Yield:              2 Servings

1 medium sized Sweetpotato
1 tsp Olive oil(or any other oil of your preference)
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
Red chilli powder to taste

Preheat the oven to 180 degree celcius
Wash and slice the sweet potato into thin slices. If you have a food processor or a grater with this facility, you can use it to make your work easier.
Put the slices in a bowl, add the oil and mix slightly so that the chips are at least partially covered with oil.
Lay out the slices on the non stick pan/cookie sheet. Ensure that the chips don't overlap each other.
Bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes.
Let them cool (I leave them inside the oven only until the oven has finished cooling itself)
Add salt/pepper/seasoning as you desire. Personally I preferred adding nothing since the sweet potato itself had an inherent sweet taste that made it really yummy.
